A little about us…
As part of our mission to help organisations and nonprofits build communities and social movements, Tandemic organizes a number of exciting and interactive events. Tandemic runs a series of intensive innovation events under The Weekend Movement that help people bring their ideas, projects, and start-ups to life through interdisciplinary collaboration and prototyping. We also organize events on behalf of clients, including tweetups and parties. Tandemic serves companies ranging from Firefly to Kakiseni, Carrefour, and the National Innovation Agency. Our team setup Malaysia’s first Foursquare page and has built campaigns serving over 10 million video views.

Project Coordinator Overview
The event coordinator leads Tandemic’s event management, from awesome innovation events to exciting training. The event coordinator plans and publicizes the occasion to bring the right people to the right place, at the right time. Our events’ success rests on the shoulders of the event manager. Every detail, including planning, budget, and setting up a publicity campaign, right through to the all important ‘wow’ factor is left in your capable hands. Although 9 to 5 is the standard workday, long hours are likely for an events coordinator, but it’s all in the name of a great event.
Skills and Interests
To be a good event coordinator, you need to:
- have excellent time management and organisational skills
- have strong writing and communication skills
- have a basic understanding of product management
- be enthusiastic, self-motivated and outgoing
- be able to establish productive relationships with people at all levels
- have good communication and presentation skills
- be able to gather and interpret information for business research
- be commercially aware and customer-focused
- have a positive and adaptable approach to problem solving
- be innovative and creative to distinguish your event from the competition
- have knowledge of sales, marketing or copywriting
- have an understanding of budgeting and financial management
- be able to work as part of a team
- possess an eye for detail
Scope
- Managing and coordinating supplier and partner engagement for events
- Conducting tactical planning for events
- Coordinating project staff and scheduling to ensure that events are planned forward, that they do not conflict with each other, and that event tasks are completed within the project schedules
Responsibilities
- Proactively coordinate events and act as a central point of contact and event planning/scheduling for the project team, including client, facilitators, and event assistants
- Systematically coordinate project staff to ensure that all project elements are delivered within their schedules
- Facilitate planning meetings and workshops when required
Qualifications and Experience
Should have at least one year experience managing events, but we’re open!
